Undoubtedly, you will be surprised to learn that:
- More than 51 million hours of schooling are lost annually due to the lack of dental care among American children.
- Tooth decay is the most common chronic childhood disease today in the United States, five times more common than asthma.
- Each year, nearly 10 million children die worldwide, mostly from preventable and treatable causes.
These numbers don't have to be this high. In fact, we don't want them to exist at all. So we brought the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile to Montana. Located in Billings, MT the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile travels to outlying communities bridging the gap between hospitals and these underserved children - and to eliminate statistics like these. So, children with the greatest barriers to accessible health care get the care they need.
All Ronald McDonald Care Mobile services are provided in a 40-foot long, 8-foot wide, state-of-the-art vehicle built specifically for delivering pediatric health care services. Each vehicle includes two patient examination rooms, a laboratory and reception and medical records areas.
Staffed with pediatric specialist volunteers, each Ronald McDonald Care Mobile provides cost-effective, high-quality medical, dental and health education services to underserved children in rural and urban areas. Volunteers also help eligible families enroll in federally assisted health insurance initiatives such as medicaid and MT state initiatives such as CHIP.
