Our History

At Ronald McDonald House Charities of Montana, we owe our continued success to the tireless work of volunteers and the countless contributions from our donors. Because of you, we’ve been helping improve the lives of children and their families for 30 years.

Here are some of the historic milestones that you have helped make possible.

1979 – Saint Vincent Healthcare donates a 1922 craftsman style home at 1144 N. 30th Street to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Montana. The house will become the first Ronald McDonald House in Montana.

1982  - Ronald McDonald House (RMH) of Billings opens its doors offering 9 rooms to families of sick children.

1993 – RMH Billings receives 10,000 shares of McDonald’s Common Stock from Joan B. Kroc to establish a permanent endowment.

2000- The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile brings health care to children in Montana's rural areas.

2000 – RMH Billings adds a new wing tripling the size of the house. The wing includes a new kitchen, 5 new bedrooms, two of which are handicapped accessible, a living room, a play area, computer room, teen room, meeting room and office space for staff.

2006 – The Ronald McDonald House of Missoula opens it doors with 8 bedrooms. The House is built on land leased to RMHCMT by the Community Medical Center in Missoula.

2007 – The Ronald McDonald Family Room at St. Vincent Healthcare opens on the hospital's pediatric floor. The room includes a quiet sitting area, a business area,  a washer and dryer and a bedroom with bath for families needing to stay in the hospital to care for their child.
